Currently the only key desks with true 2nd touch on the Accompaniment and Great keyboards that we have available are new wood full size Wurlitzer replicas. (See Below) The keyboards have midi output, with 1st touch being velocitive sensitive, 2nd touch is on / off midi. Each keyboard has inputs for an expression shoe and a crescendo pedal and has 20 programmable pistons per keyboard. Engraving for the pistons is an additional $3.75 per piston.
OSI Organ Supply Inc. offers new replica WurliTzer keydesks. The cost for the all wood Wurlitzer replica 3 manual key desk with 2 manuals being second touch and the 3rd being single touch is approximately $11,800. The 4 manual Wurlitzer replica key desk with two true 2nd touch keyboards and two single touch keyboards is approximately $14,500. The key desks include 2-inch wide Wurlitzer replica key cheeks finished to spec. The current lead-time is about 90 days.
Since the cost of new wood keyboards is very high I would suggest that you look for a used console with wood keyboards and convert them to midi yourself.
We have not been able to find a suitable source for low cost plastic keyboards that are capable of being made into 2nd touch keyboards yet. I am continuing to search for these and we are hopeful that a suitable source can be found in the near future.
Designed to fit over and around the stand alone keydesk, the horseshoe stop rails (shown below shell covers removed) with Syndyne magnetic stop tabs are available on a custom order basis. The estimated cost is approximately $50.00 per stop tab including engraving. For example a single row 100-tab horseshoe rail would be approximately $5,000.00. The stop rail assembly includes a midi output encoder to send stop tab on off information that can be used to control jOrgan and Hauptwerk preset pistons. A version with midi stop tab output control for the Miditzer is in the works currently. For Double stop rail Bolster or Back Rail prices, Please Call. The pricedoes notinclude a stand alone (independent) combination action or magnet driver boards for the stop rail; these are available on custom order basis. The lead-time is approximately 60 to 90 days.

In our opinion The Studio Logic SL-161 is currently the best all around choice for a low cost midi keyboard that can be "stacked" (see below) to be used with Miditzer, jOrgan or Hauptwerk. Although it doesn't have true second touch, it does have channel after touch which can be used with the Miditzer virtual organ to achieve some of the effects of a second touch keyboard.
"There are two major advantages to the Studio Logic SL161 MIDI keyboard controller. The instrument has a 5-octave keyboard, with channel aftertouch which responds to the player's ""aftertouch"", which allows you to add additional voices with Miditzer after the original note(s) has / have been triggered. There are also 2 split zones for layering sounds together, offering greater versatility, for a small split manual portable Organ application.
Studio Logic SL161
The SL-161 is a Master Controller keyboard that will allow you to split or layer up to two sounds, with powerful expressive control over each. The SL-161 provides a 61 key weighted velocity sensitive action keyboard with aftertouch. The quality weighted synthesizer / organ action provides a firm, fast feel and zone specific velocity settings allow a wide range of control over the velocity response of the keys.
The Keyboard
The Studio Logic 161 has a 61 key Fatar semi-weighted Synth organ action. It is a new, improved version of the classic Fatar action. It is an extremely musical feeling Synth / pipe organ style action that has a very dynamic yet quick response to it. The velocity sensitive action can be modified with several velocity curve response settings that will be discussed later in this manual. The 61 key action of the SL-161 will transmit channel aftertouch on all zones. Note: This is not the same as Poly After touch or True 2nd Touch.
The Wheels
The pitch and modulation wheels are the standard style, however, they are made with a new rubberized texture. They have been designed to give the player a more solid tactile sensation during performing and programming for a more musical response.
The Zones
The SL-161 has (2) two independent zones with each of them capable of being assigned to any range of keys across the SL-161's keyboard. As discussed in the introduction to this manual, the zones are the heart of creating musically useful Layers and Splits.
Features
Channel After Touch (This is not the same as Poly After touch or True 2nd Touch)
Pitch Bend Wheel and Modulation Wheel
Memory for the storage of last used zone parameters
8 Zone Specific Velocity Curves
8 Global Velocity Curves
2 Zones for Splits and Programmable Layers
Numerical keypad corresponding to the keys of the central octave
2 buttons for the enabling and disabling of the 2 keyboard zones
Enter/Edit button
2 scroll buttons (Up/Down) for Edit parameters
10 LEDs indicating the active parameter
2 LEDs indicating which zone button is active (On/Off)
2 Parallel MIDI outputs
Sustain Input jack, Volume Input jack, DC Input jack
Temporarily unavailable, the US Distributor for Studio Logic / Fatar went bankrupt. Hopefully a new US distributor will step up to the plate soon.
The next closest keyboard we've found to the SL-161 in price with similar features which has the required expression and sustain pedal inputs, but doesn't have the channel after touch feature of the SL-161, is the Roland / Edirol PCR-M80 keyboard.
For Other brands or models of keyboards please call.
