The Hand Crafted AMATI ATR318 series are extremely well suited to not only intermediate level students as well as the professional musician on a budjet. The ATR-318 models have many features such as Nickel-Silver slides, 1st and 3rd expression slides with thumb hook and adjustable ring with stop, feather light Stainless Steel valves. The ATR 318 has a taper bore mouthpipe, only found on instruments costing much more. The ATR318 uses a Red Brass Mouthpipe and tuning bow which gives a slightly darker sound. The 318 has been redesigned. The crucial point was moved towards the mouthpiece and the valve assembles towards the mouthpipe for better balance and stability.
Other differences include: New construction of the body for improved response, articulation and intonation.
New tapper flow of the mouthpipe improves the instrument's blowing performance and makes it easier to articulate difficult passages. Modern look - New design of the bottom and top caps, finger buttons, forged plates and braces give the instrument a very attractive look. Smooth piston action - the use of a new special non-corrosive nickel-silver alloy which has better thermal expansion charicteristics. This new alloy enables a more precise valve to casing tolerance to insure an excellent seal and deliveres an extremely quick, light weight, smooth piston action. Further benefits of the Amati's new Stainless Steel Valves: Easier maintenance and greatly improved durability of the valve assembly.

The Amati ATR 318 Semi-Professional models have similar specifications to the ATR 213 but are hand crafted by one person instead of several, and have the following differences:
ATR 318: The lead pipe is made with red brass and is slightly heavier and has a different more aggressive taper than the 213, the 2 piece bell is hand formed and the brace positioning is individually selected by the craftsman for each instruments particualar resonance tuning points.
The Amati instruments are very unusual in that the cost of these instrument is currently far below what one would normally expect to pay for instruments of this extraordinary caliber.
